Pumpkins are the perfect decoration for the fall season, giving your home a festive touch from the first day of autumn through Thanksgiving. Our real estate agents know that there are a few ways to repurpose your pumpkins to maximize their usefulness. Here are some fun ways to use your fall pumpkins. 

1. Make a Crunchy Seasonal Treat
   Pumpkin seeds are a nutritious option when you're in the mood for a crunchy snack. Not only are they packed full of flavor, but they're rich in vitamins and minerals, like vitamin K, zinc, phosphorous, iron, and vitamin B12. Gather your pumpkin seeds by removing the pulp from inside the pumpkin. You can then use your hands to remove the seeds. Grab your colander and rinse the seeds to remove more of the pulp.
   
   Once you're through rinsing the seeds, spread them out on a paper towel so they can dry. While they're drying, preheat your oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Put your seeds on a cookie sheet and spray them with oil or a little melted butter. Then, add your preferred seasonings. Some tasty options include sea salt, garlic salt, fall seasonings (like cinnamon and all-spice), and pepper.
   
   Roast the seeds until they're golden-brown; this usually takes about 10 or 20 minutes. Stir them every 5 minutes so that they don't scorch. 

2. Try a New Carving Technique
   Instead of breaking out your carving kit, grab a mallet and some spooky cookie cutters to carve your pumpkin. You'll want to scrape your pumpkin's walls so that they're about 3/4 of an inch thick. Position your cookie cutter in place, and tap it with the mallet until it's all the way through. Then, use a knife to carve around the cookie cutter and remove the cutout. You can do as many or as few as you'd like on the same pumpkin.

3. Use Your Pumpkins as Planters
   Pumpkins make fantastic planters for your favorite autumn flowers. They're also quick and easy to make. If you're ready to add your home to the list of Lewisburg homes for sale, floral arrangements are a gorgeous way to greet potential buyers. Use a knife to remove the top of the pumpkin. Scoop out the pulp, and fill the pumpkin about halfway full with potting soil. Put your plants on top of the soil and add additional soil until the pumpkin is full. 

4. Repurpose Your Pumpkins as Candles
   A fall-themed candle is an irresistible part of the season. Make your own festive-smelling candles with pumpkins. Remove the tops of the pumpkins, and scoop out the pulp. Put your candle wick at the bottom of the pumpkin, and use a pencil to hold it upright. Melt your wax and add a couple of drops of candle oil or cinnamon essential oil. Let the wax harden, trim your wicks, and enjoy your candle. 

5. Bake a Batch of Pumpkin Cookies
   Pumpkin cookies are a delicious, easy-to-make fall treat. You can even customize the cookies with chocolate chips or cream cheese frosting for an added touch.
   
   You'll need about a cup of pumpkin for your recipe. Use it in place of canned pumpkin (cup for cup) in your favorite pumpkin cookie recipe. Or, try out this tasty recipe for soft pumpkin cookies.
